Craig Lucas, a singer-songwriter from Elsies River on the Cape Flats, rose to national prominence by winning The Voice South Africa Season 2 in 2017. Despite lacking formal musical training, Craig captivated audiences with his deeply emotive soul and wide vocal range. A self-taught musician, Craig describes his style as “alternative pop,” aiming to create music that resonates with misfits, outsiders, dreamers, and non-conformists like himself.
His debut single “I Said This” shot to #1 on iTunes, and his album RESTLESS followed, snagging a SAMA nomination for Best Pop Album. Hits like “Smother,” “Hearts Exposed,” “Antisociable,” and “Happy” all went gold, and his music has racked up over 13 million streams. Craig’s latest release, “Falling in Love”, the lead single from his upcoming project, has already amassed over 2,000 radio spins and climbed to #1 on multiple South African radio stations.
Craig is currently working on his most personal music yet. Fans can expect a pop-rock rollercoaster with electric guitars, thumping drums, and Craig’s powerhouse vocals wrapped in catchy melodies. It’s tackles tough topics such as depression and substance abuse, and even tougher topics such as his unwavering tendency to repeatedly fall for losers who don’t deserve him!

Raised in one of the Cape Flats’ most challenging areas, Craig has dedicated a significant portion of his career to uplifting underprivileged youth from similar backgrounds. Since 2018, he has raised over R140,000 for various charitable causes through his platform. Since publicly coming out as queer in 2018, Craig has prioritized queer representation in the mainstream, becoming one of the first openly queer mainstream artists in South Africa to feature same-sex relationships in his music videos. Metrovilla
Metro Villa is Cape Town’s unapologetically loud, high-octane punk rock quartet known for turning every stage into a riot of raw energy and emotion. This duality shines on their debut live album, Live at the Two Oceans Aquarium, recorded during Texx and the City’s iconic After Dark concert series. Departing from their usual mosh-pit-ready sets, the band curated a more introspective performance, revealing themes of heartbreak, loss, depression, and young love—offering fans a glimpse into the heart beneath the frenzy.
Their talent and determination haven’t gone unnoticed. Metro Villa took first place in Texx and the City’s Band Or Bust competition in 2023, earning them a place alongside South African rock heavyweights such as Fokofpolisiekar, aKING, Springbok Nude Girls, and Desmond and the Tutus. With five punchy singles already under their belt and an evolving sound that challenges expectations, the band continues to push the boundaries of what South African punk can be.
Their latest single, “Shallow Graves,” and its accompanying music video have further solidified their rise. Shot at The Old Woodmill in Stellenbosch and directed by Adam Hansen, with dreamy visuals by cinematographer Alex Ortscheit, the video surpassed 20,000 views in its first week. “For a rock band in SA, it’s kind of like a shot in the dark,” says guitarist Daniel Nuttall, “but it’s given us a massive confidence boost.” With a growing fan base and a fearless creative vision, Metro Villa is on a mission to shake up the scene, one thunderous show at a time.

Ruben Gerritz
Ruben Gerritz, a distinguished singer-songwriter hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, has masterfully cultivated a unique sound that transcends conventional musical boundaries. Faker Streets
Faker Streets is the electrifying musical collaboration between powerhouse vocalist Liam Burger and acclaimed producer and session drummer David Jones. Jacob Swann
Singer-Songwiter, Jacob Swann, is a Cape Town-based Folk-Rock artist, known for his thought-provoking lyrics and heart-warming melodies. After starting his career in 2010 as an electric guitarist for various blues bands, he eventually decided to carve out his path in 2016, by starting his solo career. His SAMAnominated debut album “Brother” was recorded in 2020 and release in 2021. Not only was the album nominated for “Adults Contemporary Album of the year”, but the hit song “Lief”, won him the AITSA award for both Songwriter of the Year as well as Easy Listening Song of the Year.
Life performances have been described as “gripping” and “captivating”. Whether it’s with his band or in a solo acoustic performance, Swann is known for gripping the attention of the crowd, through his raspy voice as well as the skill and energy of his performance and musicians on stage. From electric rock ‘n roll, to acoustic love songs, Swann is able to move through different genres seamlessly, capable of entertaining both young and old.

Freddy L
Hailing from South Africa, FREDDY L is an alternative three piece band based between Durban and Cape Town. They balance Alternative indie influences with endemic, South African singer-songwriter sensibilities.
Originally established as a solo project by lead singer Ntutuko (Freddy) Lalendle, the group expanded in 2023 with the addition of Reece Berkeley on drums and production, alongside Niclaus Duvenhage (p.f.a Spectr) on bass and production.
The group has since released several singles, with their debut track, “Hold On,” marking a strong entry by climbing the charts across various platforms. Following this success, the band has consistently delivered new music, maintaining momentum and promising even more exciting projects for their growing audience.
FREDDY L have since embarked on a journey to bring their live set to the world; one that delights the ears, warms the heart, & fills the soul.

Born and raised in Cape Town, 18-year-old hip-hop artist YAAZ draws deep inspiration from the rhythm and soul of early 2000s music. Growing up in a household filled with sound, he was constantly surrounded by musical influences, from the vibrant melodies of Cape Malay parades and the powerful storytelling of District Six to the timeless energy of Michael Jackson DVDs. His uncle’s old PC was the gateway to hip-hop, a soundtrack to afternoons filled with video games and bass-heavy beats that would later shape his artistic identity.
Although music was always present in his life, YAAZ only began taking his craft seriously after earning a scholarship to M&M Music Academy. There, he found a space to sharpen his skills, learn the intricacies of production and performance, and begin shaping his own voice as an artist. The academy gave him the tools, but his vision, style, and passion were forged long before, in the layered sounds and stories he grew up with.
His music blends nostalgic textures with a fresh, experimental edge. Inspired by innovators like Tyler, The Creator, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Michael Jackson, YAAZ approaches every track with intention, groove, and emotion.He’s drawn to bold production, melodic hooks, and lyrics that reflect both his lived experience and broader cultural commentary, all while staying true to the roots that raised him.

With a deep-rooted passion for music and a refined technical skillset, Dean has quickly established himself as one of the most promising up-and-coming guitarists. As a vocal coach and educator at M&M Music Academy, Helen is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of vocalists. She leads the M&M A Cappella Society with creativity and care, crafting intricate vocal arrangements that allow young singers to explore dynamic musical textures and develop confidence in collaborative performance. Her teaching philosophy balances discipline with artistic exploration, inspiring students to grow as both musicians and individuals.
Helen’s work as a vocal arranger has contributed to the unique sound of several South African artists and student groups. Notably, she has shaped the vocal direction of Mage Troskie and Liam Burger from Faker Streets, creating signature harmonies and arrangements that amplify each artist’s voice. At the core of the group is Monique, a seasoned performer and vocal educator with over 20 years in the industry. From musical theatre to international tribute shows, her versatility spans genres and disciplines, including drama, dance, and vocal technique. A passionate mentor, Monique not only leads with her powerhouse voice but also with a deep understanding of stagecraft, making her the group’s foundation in both skill and professionalism.
Deorinda Williams brings theatrical flair and bold charisma to the trio. With formal training from AFDA and M&M Music Academy, she has captivated audiences in stage musicals like Legally Blonde and dazzled crowds as a performing waitress at Stardust Theatrical Diner. Completing the trio is Erin Simpson, a rising vocalist from Johannesburg who brings fresh energy and soulful vocals to The Divas. Currently studying Sound Technology and Production at Cape Audio College while continuing her training at M&M Music Academy, Erin’s journey from shy performer to confident artist adds authenticity and passion to every performance.
